Overall Review: I was able to program remote control for my favorite player – VLC. Slow download of new drivers from manufactures website.

Good for short entries like user name and passwords. Virtual keyboard is Ok, but not good for long text. Nice fitches like News, Weather, Mail and others.Ī lot of possibilities to adjust settings according individual needs.Ĭan scan for media whole PC or just in specific folders.Ĭan add thumbnails for each folder or file.īuild-in player plays a lot of different formats (also can be adjusted for individual needs)Ĭons: Eats a lot of processor’s resources while playing video, especially in full screen mode, so PC do not responds to remote control commands in time. Remote can be programmed for any application which uses hot-keys. It’s fully Windows Media Center compliant (so you can use a standard MCE remote and/or wireless keyboard) or it can support the aforementioned additional functions specific to the iMon remote. As a bonus, it has additional iMon-only functionality to display news feeds, weather and other applications at the touch of the remote. This is a HUGE bonus for HTPC cases since it uses the 3 ½” drive bay for something useful, saves the trouble of a dangling IR receiver Velcro’ed to your PC and makes any motherboard power-on enabled even if it doesn’t support power-on USB natively (a shortcoming of the otherwise great EVGA 112-CK-NF77-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce e-7150/630i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard I use). Overall Review: The description of this item doesn't do it justice: This a 3 1/2" drive bay IR receiver that plugs into the 20/24-pin PSU connector, a free USB header and your Power SW header pins on your motherboard to give any motherboard full power on/power off functionality through IR. Tiny red LED flashes with each IR signal (but easy to black out w/electrical tape or marker)

Cool add-on features built into the iMon software (news feeds, weather, etc.).Ĭons: Device doesn't use standard sized mount holes - and included screws aren't a perfect match. Fully Windows MCE compliant for both remote and keyboards (and works perfectly with Harmony remotes). Fantastic implementation of power-on IR control - even for motherboards that don't support power-to-USB while in S1/S3 sleep. Pros: Perfect way to 'hide' an IR receiver and use your otherwise useless 3 1/2" drive bay in your gaming or HTPC case.
